Locate Unclaimed Money in VT – Part 1 of 2

The tiniest state capital in the U.S., is the Vermont city of Montpelier. It's also the nation's biggest producer of maple syrup and the state is also home to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream company. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield first got started in Burlington, Vermont on May 5, 1978 and the company's headquarters presently call Waterbury home. According to a recent press release from the Treasury Department, it appears that the New England state has something even more sweet to offer besides ice cream and maple syrup and it is in Treasurer Jeb Spaulding's office – Vermont unclaimed money.
The state currently holds about $42 million in Vermont unclaimed money that belongs to roughly 200,000 Vermonters. Forgotten financial assets being held by banks and other financial establishments are handed over to the State Treasury Dept. after a certain period of 'dormancy'.
